Motor Yacht

M/Y Akiko
34m (112ft)
Project Location: Fremantle, Australia
This project was particularly noteworthy for us as it involved the refurbishment of a yacht that we had completed a decade prior. The vessel was subsequently sold to new owners who were eager to undergo a comprehensive overhaul of its systems and transition it into the digital realm.
System for Sun Deck, Bridge Deck Aft, Pilothouse, Owner’s Cabin, Saloon, VIP Cabin, Galley, Dining, Aft Deck, Port Guest Cabin, Stbd Guest Cabin, Forward Guest Cabin, Captain’s Cabin, and Crew Mess
Audio Visual
Two distinct audio and video entertainment zones, each with a dedicated 2x audio output zone, are available. The system is designed to accommodate sources and connections from existing equipment, while also providing flexibility for future device upgrades. The owner desires the capability to connect a pair of high-output “party” speakers at various outdoor decks for events hosted on board.
Control
Ten iPad Minis in Launchport inductive charging sleeves have been strategically installed throughout the vessel. The primary objective of designing the iPad interface was to facilitate seamless access to the charging system. The interface employs a user-friendly approach, employing simple questions and prompts to guide the user through the process. Any potential delays associated with the equipment’s startup are promptly communicated to the user, accompanied by a countdown timer to provide precise information. The design prioritised ease of operation for both the full-time crew and short-term guests.
Network
We have meticulously designed an extensive entertainment network that provides comprehensive services. This network encompasses system control, streaming of audio and video content from both the local area network (LAN) and the internet, and general internet access for services such as Skype.
Security
We installed a Bosch PTZ Camera mounted on the mast, providing a comprehensive bird’s-eye view of the yacht’s surroundings. This camera is accessible from the bridge as a navigation aid and can also be viewed by curious guests on their televisions. The camera offers full control via a joystick located in the Pilothouse and Crestron iPads distributed throughout the vessel. Both the owner and captain have the option to override control and restrict access to the camera.
In addition to the PTZ Camera, we installed a new DVR for their existing dome cameras, enabling them to monitor the cameras from any location worldwide via their smartphones.
