Auckland Great Hall

Project Information:

Comprehensive front-of-house audio system installation for the Great Hall situated within the Auckland Town Hall.

Central Cluster

The Central JBL Speaker system is engineered around a seven-speaker cluster suspended using custom brackets.

The central cluster features discrete amplification, enabling the user to selectively enable or reduce the volume of individual speakers, contingent upon the audience size and the areas of coverage necessitated.

All Other Areas

The JBL AC16s and CBTs address all other aspects and arrive at the factory unfinished. These speakers were subsequently painted to harmonise with the Town Hall’s colour scheme. Custom brackets were fabricated to accommodate low-profile mounting on the underside of the balcony areas. Additionally, these speakers are horizontally mounted to minimise their overall form impact.

Signal Processing & Mixing

A comprehensive BSS control solution, featuring a 20-inch touch panel, is situated in the communications room for predefined recall functionality and equalisation (EQ) settings. This panel offers multiple levels of control, catering to technicians and live events.

Additionally, a personal computer (PC) has been integrated to provide complete control and configuration of the system’s EQ, as well as system monitoring. It will generate temperature warnings for the amplifiers and provide status indications, accompanied by email notifications.

The communications and audio infrastructure is fully distributed over fibre optic cables via Dente.

The Soundcraft mixing desk, linked to the BSS and the fibre optic digital audio snake, completes the system.
