Hoyts Cinemas, Chadstone
Project Information:
Hoyts Chadstone, one of Hoyts’ largest complexes, features 13 screens, including two Extreme screens. Hoyts has revolutionized the cinema experience through its creatively designed entry and food and beverage areas, which enhance the overall movie-watching journey.
Liquid Automation designed, supplied, and installed a fully automated lighting control system to cater to the complex’s creative requirements. This system encompasses automated cinema lighting cues that enhance the in-cinema experience and creative lighting scenes in the front-of-house areas that bring the complex to life. Lutron Lighting’s intelligent and robust control system simplifies the daily operation of these cinemas.
THE SYSTEM:
Lighting Control
A Lutron Homeworks QS system was employed to manage 400 circuits of controlled lighting within a cinema. Lutron presents an ideal solution for such a venue due to its robustness, reliability, and substantial energy savings, particularly advantageous for a large commercial space.
Key Features:
Day and Night Scenes: These scenes adjust light levels based on time of day to enhance lighting effects in front-of-house areas. They can be manually activated via a master keypad.
Special Lighting Scenes: These scenes can be manually triggered to create unique events and highlight specific areas.
Full Integration: The system integrates seamlessly with cinema projection systems, receiving cues that trigger lighting scenes such as House Up, House Down, and Trailer lighting levels.
Secured “Key-Switches”: Local to each cinema, these key-switches turn all room lights to full for cleaning purposes. The system can override the key switch if it receives a lighting cue from the projection system, ensuring that cleaning lights are turned off before the next movie.
Integration with Commercial Fire Systems: In the event of a fire, all lights turn on full, and commands are sent to cinema projectors, equipment, and background music systems to shut down, providing added protection and safety for the public.
Remote Support: Remote support allows access to the systems on-site for easy programming changes and troubleshooting.
Audio Distribution
Liquid Automation also provided the installation of the background audio system. The complex features 122 ceiling and wall speakers, along with three AV racks that our installers installed and commissioned.
