Wawata Estate

Project Information:

Nestled on Waiheke Island, the Wawata private gated property of 25 lots has evolved to a fully automated estate with the help of Liquid Automation.

The project consisted of the development and installation of several automation systems including Street Lighting, CCTV, and Water Access Systems.

With 25 lots spread across the whole estate a unique system was developed to grant each property access to the automation features provided by Liquid Automation. For such, a so-called Home Automation Kit was created that each lot owner can have access to. All systems and subsystems installed on the estate are accessible via a 7” LCD touch screen. Additionally, a Crestron processor, Fibre Kit and a Water Control Gear is included.

The following systems were installed:

Smart Street Lighting

All street lighting on the estate are activated and turn on when a vehicle is on the road. Additionally, manual control of street lighting is available from each inhouse touch panel. As the estate is located on an island, the smart street lighting especially helps to save on-going estate power costs and mitigates light pollution for surrounding residents.

Potable Water Access

In case homeowners run out of water on their property, it is possible to top up the personal water tanks from the estate’s desalination plant via the provided inhouse touch screens. In order to keep track of who accessed the estate’s water tanks, a water control and monitoring system was installed. With a customized billing system programmed by Liquid Automation, an invoice is sent automatically to the respective homeowners by the end of the month.

Security

Homeowners have access to all estate security cameras. A total of 8 cameras were installed at two road gates across the estate. With three different types of cameras it is possible to view cars and identify people walking. Intercom cameras further allow for a close-up ID of those using the gate access keypad.

Gate Intercom

With 25 lots across the estate, not each homeowner is necessarily close to the next road gate to welcome guests. Therefore, homeowners have access to the video intercom with gate control via the inhouse touch screen. For the gate intercom a 2N access control system and intercom systems were chosen. Homeowners and visitors can either access the estate by typing in a code in the dynamic LCD touch screen or ring lot names to ask for entry. These gate intercom systems were chosen as they provide superior features such as high definition cameras, speakers, a record of people that accessed the estate, easy change of access codes by Liquid Automation, and the display of incognito home names instead of house numbers for a maximum of privacy.

Automation Extensions

As these systems offer far more than the Home Starter Kit includes, homeowners can request custom programmed automation options that suit the owner’s needs. This can include:

  • Audio Visual

  • Lighting Control

  • Window Treatments

  • House Security

  • Irrigation

  • House Access Control
