Overview
Liquid Automation has designed and engineered a complete control solution integrating audio-visual, lighting, HVAC and network systems throughout the vessel, delivering seamless functionality, reliability, and a consistent user experience across all decks.
Control System
The vessel’s automation is driven by Crestron, programmed and commissioned by Liquid Automation.
This upgrade replaces the previous proprietary overlay with a native Crestron environment, enhancing speed, reliability, and maintainability while reducing hardware footprint.
The Crestron system centrally manages:
Audio / Video Distribution
Lighting
Blinds and Shades
HVAC
Network
Liquid Automation’s Priority Control Module (LPC) ensures efficient handling of shared sources. When a device (such as an Apple TV) is in use, the LPC provides real-time feedback and location details, preventing conflicts between areas and simplifying source selection.
User Interfaces
Control throughout the vessel is achieved via a combination of Crestron TSR-310 wireless remotes and Apple iPad Mini (7th Gen) touch interfaces.
Device Quantity
Crestron TSR-310 Remotes 15 Units
Apple iPad Mini (7th Gen) 7 Units
This ensures every entertainment and guest space has intuitive access to the system with consistent interface logic.
Video Distribution
Video delivery is managed via Crestron NVX supporting full 4K UHD across all displays with near-instant source switching and fault monitoring at device level.
Key Features
12 separate video areas
12 x Apple TVs centrally located in main AV racks
Roaming Apple TV functionality – enabling playback continuation between zones
Central Blu-ray
Plex Media Server with separate Owner, Guest, and Crew libraries
Chart Navigation Relay available to all screens for live positioning and distance displays
Karaoke system integrated in the Main Saloon and Ethnic Lounge
DJ Input / Party Speaker Outputs retained across three deck areas
Audio Distribution
Audio throughout the vessel is delivered using Crestron DM NAX Audio-over-IP amplifiers to 40 zones, supporting AirPlay 2 and Bonjour network routing for seamless casting between Owner, Guest, and Crew networks.
System Highlights
40 Stereo and Surround Zones
Integrated DSP Processing per zone
Zone Linking for shared deck playback
Internet radio tuners per zone
Direct AirPlay 2 Streaming
Bluetooth Hearing Assist Transmitters in select areas
Local Audio Inputs for DJ decks and auxiliary sources
This distributed architecture minimizes rack space, reduces cabling, and allows any source to be routed to any area with complete signal integrity.
Lighting Integration
The existing Lutron lighting system has been expanded and integrated directly with the Crestron control.
Ensuite and secondary zones can “follow audio” using the Lutron keypad for quick activation, while volume control remains accessible through TSR remotes.
This ensures simple, unified control logic throughout all guest and Owner areas.
Network Infrastructure
The network backbone combines Netgear AV Line managed switches with Ruckus Wi-Fi 6 access points, ensuring reliable connectivity for entertainment, control, and operational networks.
Network Design Features
Wired Backbone: High-speed 10Gbps fibre links between core switches
Wireless Backbone: Ruckus BeamFlex adaptive technology to overcome steel structure interference
VLAN Segmentation: Isolated networks for Owner, Guest, Crew, and Control
PoE+ Switching: Powering network devices and AV endpoints with remote reboot capability
Bonjour and AirPlay 2 Routing: Seamless wireless casting between segregated networks
This configuration ensures high availability, stability, and security across all operational environments on board.
Equipment Racks and Power Management
All racks were designed, fabricated, and commissioned by Liquid Automation, adhering to marine-grade standards.
Each rack includes:
IP-controlled PDUs for remote management
Dual temperature threshold sensors linked to Crestron alerts and shutdown logic
Neat, serviceable layouts with detailed labeling and documentation
Key Features
Native Crestron Control, engineered by Liquid Automation
Liquid Priority Control Module for real-time source management
4K60 4:4:4 NVX video distribution with IP-level fault feedback
DM NAX audio network with AirPlay 2, Bonjour routing and internet radio per zone
Ruckus Wi-Fi 6 for reliable streaming and control connectivity
PoE+ Network Design minimizing power supplies and hardware footprint
Centralized Rack Architecture with IP control and temperature protection
Comprehensive System Documentation produced to Liquid Automation’s award-winning standards
