Melbourne Residence
Project Information:
Liquid Automation undertook comprehensive system installations and builds for the Melbourne Residence in Australia.
The system we provided enables seamless access and control over diverse systems, including audio and video, CCTV, home cinema, and lighting controls.
Control
3Currently, our home has no iPads, but we do have one remote iPhone that grants control over local area and friendly zones. All iPads possess the capability to control areas beyond their local zones, but this privilege requires a code. Upon entering the code, an iPad can assume the identity of any other iPad within the house.
The iPad design enables users to navigate to any floor in the house. Once a floor is selected, a highly detailed 3D floor plan is displayed, offering options to view cameras, AV, windows, doors, and other security features, HVAC, and lighting.
At the client’s request, a separate iPad and iPhone program was developed and deployed, allowing the client to utilize either device within the home or remotely from any location worldwide.
Party mode is activated when entertaining, displaying a welcome message and a custom image on all iPads. Party mode also triggers sound and lighting presets, as well as restricting access to certain areas of the house and limiting lift access.
In smaller areas where tactile remotes were more advantageous, we implemented Crestron TSR302 remotes that function in conjunction with the local iPad.
Audio Visual
The audio distribution and amplification system primarily utilises Crestron Sonnex equipment, with over 26 stereo audio sources distributed to 39 audio zones. The diverse array of speakers installed throughout the house includes:
* In-ceiling speakers
* In-wall dual tweeter speakers
* In-wall invisible speakers
* In-wall and in-ceiling subwoofers
* Large-format outdoor JBL speakers
* Small-profile outdoor speakers
* Sonar array outdoor speakers
* Professional audio speakers for the Dolby ATMOS 10-seat cinema
For video distribution, a Crestron Digital Media 32x32 Matrix is employed, ensuring high-definition video distribution to all displays. All TV zones have access to all Crestron Digital Media sources. If a source is currently being viewed by another user, a text notification is displayed beside the selectable source button, providing valuable information about the currently active source and facilitating simultaneous viewing in different rooms.
Home Cinema
The Wavetrain Home Cinema provides an immersive escape space, seamlessly combining exceptional sound, video, and comfort.
The Cinema boasts a diverse range of local sources, complemented by the main Crestron Digital Media frame, enabling seamless viewing of all house sources.
To ensure a quiet and stable environment, meticulous attention was paid to the room’s acoustics, eliminating potential sources of vibration such as racks, cabling, components, glass panels, and wall fixings.
Regular “shake down” tests were conducted during construction, utilizing one of the large subwoofers to sweep various tones throughout the room.
The Cinema is prewired for D-Box installation, should the client desire to implement this feature at a later date.
Network
The home network is highly comprehensive, providing connectivity to virtually every device within the system.
* Over 30 Ruckus wireless access points
* HP switch equipment utilizing a fiber backbone
Security & Access Control
There are numerous examples of how the Security and Access Control system operates within this residence. One notable example is the implementation of key-controlled access paths onto the property, whose statuses are displayed on the home page of all iPads in a logical property-shaped layout. A status for controllable doors is indicated via a small padlock graphic on the iPad, enabling users to simply press the padlock to alter its state. Regardless of whether the doors are locked or unlocked, this provides the client with crucial perimeter information at a glance.
Another example is the SIP Intercoms located on the exterior of the property, which facilitate communication with visitors and grant access. A simple button press on the intercom initiates a ring tone on all iPads, redirecting the user to the HD intercom camera page. This page features push-to-talk functionality and gate control. Upon granting access, the entry gate unlocks, allowing users to proceed to the front door intercom page for further communication and access control.
Finally, the final example of the diverse Security and Access Control features available in this residence is the disarm of the alarm system. Sensors monitor the path of entry and promptly call the lift to the corresponding floor (either the car garage or ground level). Custom programming and door monitoring enable us to trigger the lift doors simultaneously with the opening of the lift lobby door.
CCTV
The surveillance system comprises over 30 high-definition IP cameras. Selecting “CCTV” on the iPad displays the locations of all CCTV cameras. By selecting a camera, its preview is displayed in a small window on the iPad. Double-tapping the image transitions it to full screen, discreetly switching to a higher resolution stream from the camera. Additionally, the cameras are dual-purpose motion sensors that provide feedback to the Crestron Lighting system.
Lighting Control / Window Treatments
WHome Lighting, Blinds, and Sheers: Users on the iPad are presented with a Crestron keypad graphic that closely resembles the keypad mounted on the wall of the room. Consequently, users can simply press a button on the virtual keypad, mimicking a press of the real keypad.
All iPads also feature “Global Features” that enable any user to make specific adjustments to the house. These features include:
Global East and West Blind Control: Users can open or close the entire East and/or West-facing sheers and blinds of the house.
Security and Lighting Integration: These features illuminate granted access paths or alert emergency services upon activation.
Additional features of the Lighting Control System include:
Staggered On/Off Trigger: The all-house lighting ON trigger is staggered per floor to alleviate the current surge.
Backlighting for Push to Exit Button: The push to exit button backlighting turns off when the areas they are in are armed.
Internal/External PIR Triggers: Over 70 internal and external PIR triggers are available.
Dimmed Circuits: Over 200 dimmed circuits of Lighting Control are available.
Switched Circuits: Over 180 switched circuits of Lighting Control are available.
Automated Single/Dual Internal Sheers/Blinds: Over 180 combinations of automated single and dual internal sheers, blinds, external Venetian blinds, external louvretes, and fly screens are available.
Pool Control
Comprehensive monitoring of the three separate internal and external pools, including temperature set points, control of swimming pool jets and blowers.
