This project was especially exciting for us as it was a refit of a yacht that we had completed 10 years earlier. The vessel was sold to new owners who were keen to completely overhaul the system and bring it into the digital age.

System for Sun Deck, Bridge Deck Aft, Pilothouse, Owner’s Cabin, Saloon, VIP Cabin, Galley, Dining, Aft Deck, Port Guest Cabin, Stbd Guest Cabin, Forward Guest Cabin, Captain’s Cabin & Crew Mess.

Audio Visual

10x zones of audio and video entertainment with 2x audio only zones. The system needed to cater for sources and connections from currently available equipment, as well as have the ability to be upgradeable for future devices. The Owner wanted the ability to plug in a pair of high output “party” speakers at a number of locations on the outside decks for parties hosted aboard.

Control

A total of 10 iPad Minis in Launchport inductive charging sleeves have been installed throughout the boat. Making the system easily accessible was the main aim when designing the iPad interface. The interface was designed to guide the user through the process with the addition of simple questions and prompts. Any delays associated with equipment turning on are displayed to the user, and a countdown timer is shown so they know exactly what is going on. The design focused on ensuring ease of operation for the full-time crew and short term guests alike.

Network

We designed a robust entertainment network. The network caters for services such as system control, streaming audio and video from the LAN and the internet, and general computer internet access for services such as Skype.

Security

We installed a Bosch PTZ Camera which was fitted to the mast. This allows for a birds-eye view of the yachts surroundings. It is accessible in the bridge as a navigation aid, but also to inquisitive guests on their TVs. The camera has full control from a joystick located in the Pilothouse, and the Crestron iPads around the vessel. An option to override control and lock out other users is given to both the owner and captain.

In addition to the PTZ Camera we added a new DVR for their existing dome cameras which gave them the ability to monitor the cameras from anywhere in the world via their smartphones.
