Campbells Bay Residence
Project Information:
Whole home installation of Audio & Video Distribution, Lighting Control, Security and Access Control, Network Systems & Electrical
This project won several awards in the 2016 New Zealand Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards.
Audio and Video Distribution
There are ten audio zones throughout the house, each with multiple sources of audio that the owners can access. Our programming allows the owners to play audio via an iPad and/or remote, each dedicated to a specific area of the house. Additionally, there are discreet outdoor speakers distributed throughout the garden, which enhance the ambiance when entertaining outdoors. In terms of future-proofing the house, zones that currently lack speakers have been wired for potential additional audio zones in the future.
The video is distributed by a 4K Matrix Switcher, which is integrated with an RTI control system, enabling the transmission of video and control signals to the televisions in each location.
Lighting Control
The Lutron Lighting control system was employed in this residence due to its reliability and significant energy savings, which are particularly advantageous for a dwelling of this size. Lutron offers remote monitoring capabilities, enabling seamless modifications to its functionality.
Security and Access
This residence boasts comprehensive intrusion detection coverage and protection. The alarm and access control system encompasses over 20 zones throughout the property, providing monitoring of windows and external doors. This system promptly detects open windows or doors upon setting the alarm and triggers an alarm sound in case of external tampering by intruders.
Smoke and heat detectors are strategically placed throughout the house and garage, and their automation minimises false alarms triggered by factors such as burnt toast or exhaust fumes.
The security and access system interfaces with the control system, enabling authorised access to the property via a touch screen in the kitchen. Pedestrian gates are monitored, and entry is controlled through keypads at each gate.
While the surveillance system is kept to a minimum due to the house’s architectural style, the extensive alarm and access control system effectively mitigates potential intruder threats. The property is wired for future installation of additional cameras.
Network
The network system within the residence is not as extensive as those found in other properties we have managed. Nevertheless, the system we have implemented provides adequate wireless network coverage for both the indoor and outdoor areas.
